Mindset Development #1
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Make the best of it.
Everyone needs guidance in life.
Intellectual and mental growth is only possible when you surround yourself with people smarter than you. Wiser than you. People with experience different than yours.
Finding the right guidance can be difficult, especially when you’re around folks who aren’t interested in all the risks and hard work it takes to improve the quality of life.
That’s often the case - some people have a really tough start, others get more help along the way - but most of us have to deal with all kinds of obstacles in life.
How well you prepare yourself for those obstacles will determine the outcome.
Whatever you’re dealing with, you will either succeed, or you will fuck up and create an opportunity to learn and apply that lesson to your thought process moving forward.
Don’t dwell on your fuck-ups for too long. You have the rest of your life ahead of you.
The following list is far from complete, but it’s a good start.
Here are some of the principal components of what I define as “Effective Mindset”:
Discipline: stay alert and focused. Don’t ever give in to your Inner Bitch - remember that it always has an excuse for every one of your insecurities.
Common Sense and Critical Thinking: apply both to every decision you make and every action you execute. Take a step back and detach from emotions. Think twice.
Humility: keep your ego in check. Remember that you’re just one out of many billions of animals fortunate enough to exist on this planet.
Honesty: either tell the truth or shut the fuck up and don’t say anything.
Don’t lie - it gets in the way. Take my word for it - or you will find out the hard way.
LISTEN rather than just “hear”. Pay attention when others speak.
Listen 80% of the time, speak 20%.
Find the right mentors. People who make you realize how much there’s still to learn.
Follow their advice and apply it to your thought process and your actions.
Surround yourself with people smarter than you.
If you’re the smartest person around, you’re in a wrong place. Never stop learning.
Expect more of yourself. Don’t ever settle for mediocrity, or it will eventually catch up with you and make your life even worse. Step out of your comfort zone.
Physical health is directly connected to mental health - take good care of both.
Push yourself - even when you don’t feel like it. Do what’s right, not what’s “expected”.
Welcome adversity. Comfort is the enemy of progress. Focus on long-term results rather than immediate urges and impulses.
Don’t be a little bitch. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. No one gives a fuck.
Get your shit together and make it your mantra. Everyday.
Stop eating food that makes you feel like shit. Fuel your body with nutrients.
Stop drinking alcohol if it makes you miserable. Spend that money on supplements.
Replace bad habits with good ones. If you’re an addict, get addicted to discipline.
Stay away from pharmaceutical drugs. Big Pharma cartel is not your friend.
Question everything.
